Our roots begin with Bayard Lewis, who started practicing law in the community in 1956. Mr. Lewis became a county judge in 1979, at which time Richard Smith, his associate, continued the practice. Fred Strege, who had practiced law for three years with the firm of Johnson, Milloy, Johnson, Stokes and Robinson, joined Richard in 1981 and they founded the present Smith & Strege firm. Janel Fredericksen has been an associate in the firm since 1995.
We have attorneys who are licensed in North Dakota and Minnesota. We practice in state and federal courts.
